WHEN HOUSE BOUND MAKE THESE INEXPENSIVE DELICIOUS SNACKS

LARGE NUTRITIOUS FRUIT ROLL-UPS RECIPE – delicious

This recipe makes nice red roll-ups & by adding the squash we are adding nutrition without giving a hint of the squash taste.

55 cups unsweetened apple sauce

4 cups unsweetened nanking cherry or current pulp

1 cup unsweetened apple juice

6 cups cooked squash

Puree the above ingredients together. Spread 3 cups on each dehydrator sheet. I have 16 trays so there was enough left to make 6 more trays after the first batch was done. I dried them at 105 degrees until they were soft & pliable.

22 sheets with 16 pieces in each sheet = 352 pieces altogether

Carb count: 60 cups fruits X 24.65 g carbs/ cup = 1479 carbs

6 cups squash X 7.92 g carbs/ cup = 47.52 carbs

Total carbs = 1479 + 47.52 + 1526.52

1526.52 divided by 352 = 4.34 g carbs / piece of roll-up

 

For a smaller FRUIT ROLL UPS RECIPE – (again mix together what you have available & fits together)

19 cups apple sauce

1 1/2 cups other red colored fruit pulp

1 1/2 cups cooked squash

Puree well together. Spread on lightly oiled dryer sheets. In my dryer it would fill 7 or 8 sheets. Dry at 105 degrees until the texture is soft but removes easily.

 

We have a dehydrator that we pass from one family to another so everyone can enjoy this as an activity with their family!
